Where and when is it dangerous to make art? The boundaries of what you can and cannot do as an artist are constantly shifting as regimes tighten their grip on people's freedom. Some artists are at the "frontline" of political upheavals and are imprisoned for their explicit social criticism. A dramatic decline in freedom of expression in many countries also means that simply not being patriotic is being prosecuted. Then even rose paint can become dangerous.

The exhibition is produced in a new collaboration between Safemuse, Pikene på Broen and Tegnerforbundet – the Norwegian Drawing Center and will give an insight into the artistic results of the dramatic decline of democracies. The exhibition will be shown at Tegneforbundet - the Norwegian Drawing Center autumn 2025 and at Terminal B Kunsthall Kirkenes in 2026.
