The exhibition continues his work with Hawaii paintings first started in 2014. The works are based on the Hawaiian shirts he inherited after his grandfather, that he wore his first years living in Manhatten from the age of 17. Patterson remembers these times as moments of peace in a turbulent time. The shirts protected him from his surroundings and he started painting landscapes found within the patterns of the shirts.
