Zida Bruun (b. 1994, DK) works with sculpture and installation, primarily using pre-owned objects and discarded materials to explore how functional value and collective habit intertwine.
There is an unstable relationship between the self and the objects that surround it. A paradox in being a consumer while simultaneously being consumed by objects. This shifting power dynamic sets off a chain of reactions. In her work, Bruun attempts to mirror the commercial act of mobilising imagination, where objects are merely vessels for projected desires. Her works often mimic or reflect familiar situations or structures, while functional and social purposes are being confused.
Currently Bruun is completing a Master’s degree in Fine Art at the Art Academy in Oslo, graduating spring 2026.
