Substrat

Eili Bråstad
  • Closed

The forest floor is an active field where everything is connected to something else. A complex system in which decomposition, re-creation and life are inextricably intertwined.

By using still images as a starting point for moving collages, visual artist Eili Bråstad explores an abstract visual language that almost functions as a mantra to reach deeper into matter – or down below the surface. The forest floor, now photographed through a microscope, has been a recurring theme for her for several years. She collects the footage in Raisinvankka (Reisadalen) in Sápmi (in North Troms), where she grew up, and where she always finds inspiration.
