Drama about the Jewish-American Damrosch family and their only child, Jesse. The film deals with the rise and fall of the family through the 1980s and 1990s told through Jesse's meditative reflections. The narrative is strongly shaped by events such as the AIDS-related death of his uncle, the bombing of the World Trade Center in 1993, and the presidency of George W. Bush.
