In this film, we meet Marianne, a doctor, and her colleague, Tor, a nurse. Neither of them is looking for a conventional relationship. One evening, as Marianne is heading home by boat after a date, she encounters Tor, who spends his nights on the ferry cruising for other men. When Marianne hears him talk about the casual intimacy and conversations that can arise through cruising, she begins to consider whether this might also be an option for her.

Love is the final film in Dag Johan Haugerud's trilogy: Sex, Dreams, Love – three standalone films revolving around desire, identity, and the longing for freedom.
