Motstandsmatriarkene

Flexi Aukan

Location: Rosenkrantz’ gate 14
Flexi Aukan highlights the role of women in decolonial resistance struggles – as matriarchs, pillars of society, and caretakers. Aukan’s new exhibition amplifies voices from Chile, Argentina, Palestine, and the United States, weaving together references to religious visual traditions with international grassroots movements.

«Motstandsmatriarkene» is a tribute to women who have played a decisive role in the fight for collective rights. At the same time, the work offers a critical reflection on Norway’s self-image as a nation of peace and progress, and the realities of the country’s political and economic engagement internationally. Drawing on personal family history and heritage, the exhibition in Rosenkrantz’ gate represents a continuation of Aukan’s long-standing solidarity work, both within and beyond the field of art.

The exhibition is a collaboration between MAPS – MFA Art and Public Space at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts, and Mesén.
