On show inside Oslo central station, by the escalators leading down to the metro

In Rajat Mondal’s installation, technological and natural movements intersect. The new exhibition reflects both the fragility of nature and humanity’s imprint on the world.

For the exhibition, Mondal has drawn inspiration from the ways we as humans move through the world. Energy in motion – such as trains and other forms of transport – shapes us and the things that surround us. At the same time, nature and animals move according to entirely different patterns.

Mondal works with drawing, sculpture, sound, and kinetic installations, and he often uses electronic components that he has built himself. His works move, emit light and produce sound. With time and change as key elements, he seeks to give form to the transience and instability that characterise nature. The questions he raises engage with some of the most pressing issues of our time.
