Marc Chagall (1887-1985) is considered the poet among modernist artists. In a large exhibition, Henie Onstad sheds light on a so far little-known side of Chagall's work: his works from the 1930s and 1940s, where the artist's colourful palette darkens. During these years, his artworks touch on central themes such as identity, homeland and exile, which are relevant even today.
The exhibition is a collaboration with Schirn Kunsthalle, Frankfurt.
