Norwegian traditional music is in the midst of a great resurgence, with a growing attentive audience and music created by new young, exploratory performers. At Henie Onstad on Saturday February 1, we mark this by inviting you to a concert with the Norwegian-Swedish Ævestaden, a fairly recent addition to this vital folk music scene.
Ævestaden renews folk music with lyrics of our time and melancholic melodies surrounded by a brave and evocative acoustic-electronic sound where the traditional is balanced against a search for new forms of expression.
Varying instrument combinations with lyres, fiddle, kantele, vocals, mouth harp and electronics open up a unique soundscape where timeless harmonies and layers of minimalist motifs create an open and atmospheric world that resonates with many.
