Guided Tour of “Lillebet Foss: Bitten Behind the Ear” and “Year of the Horse 马年”, with Wenkai Xu and Tiril Haug Johne
The tour begins at Blaker Dairy and ends at Blaker Fortress.
In the Year of the Horse, Wenkai Xu was invited to spend the summer at Blaker Fortress. Just a stone’s throw away, at Blaker Dairy, Wenkai Xu studied drawings by Lillebet Foss (1930–2017). The two artists share a deep interest in animals and their depiction. In the hope of initiating a creaturely cultural exchange, Wenkai Xu decided to bring her own drawings into contact with the work of Lillebet Foss. Using needle, thread, and a sewing machine, she transferred the drawings onto what became the new curtains of the Rector’s Residence at Blaker Fortress.
“Year of the Horse 马年” is a meeting place, an interface where you are invited to spend time with Wenkai Xu and other critters.
Wenkai Xu (b. 1990, Jinan, China) is an artist, architect, and craftswoman. She was born in the Year of the Horse.
