In this exhibition, Heidi Marie Wien presents a series of landscape paintings with motifs taken from the area around Østensjøvannet in Oslo. The paintings revolve around observations of everyday
activities in the area, such as jogging, walking, wildlife, bird watching and voluntary work. Some of the inspiration comes from the volunteer group Østensjøvannets Venner, in which the artist herself has participated, that works to protect and maintain Østensjøvannet and the surrounding natural and cultural landscapes. The group meets weekly to remove unwanted plant species and trees, prepare the islands for birds, promote biodiversity and prevent overgrowth. In several of the paintings, the spectator is standing behind individuals as they gaze out over the landscape. Clothes, backpacks and equipment stand out as markers of the present day. All-weather jackets and sportswear, with their bright colors of blue, pink and red, contrast with nature's palette of earth tones and greens.
