Welcome to the opening of Anne Kathrine Stangeland’s exhibition at Galleri Semmingsen, located at Niels Juels gate 50 in Frogner.
Chaos and structure, decay and growth, huge volumes and tiny details - everything is part of Stangeland's painterly raw material. Nature and painting have a materiality in common: it flows, solidifies, flows together and piles up. In the later works, nature meets buildings and landscaped gardens. The labyrinth functions as an ornament that binds the image together, but at the same time opens up for movement, while the tower forms fixed points - possible signs of direction, overview and control. Stangeland describes it as "a place to find your way and a place to get lost. As in nature. As in life.”
