Welcome to an artist talk between textile artist Kristine Fornes and educator at the National Museum, Stine Elisabeth Johansen.
In the exhibition All That Is Lost, the important role of the Silk Road as a bearer of culture — and not least as a site of cultural exchange — is interpreted; from China to the Akerselva river, such as at what we today call Blå, where the dye works once turned the river blue. Ancient dyeing techniques have given the textiles their colors under open sky and open fire. Imprints and embroideries depict the cochineal insect and the indigo plant, and the early chemistry of the past is visually presented.
The conversation takes place in the exhibition, and it will be possible to work with needle and thread along the way. Threads and fabrics will be available for participants.
The event will be held at Formats premises in Rådhusgata 24. The conversation will take place in Norwegian. Admission is free and open to all.
Welcome!
