On Saturday, March 28 at 14:00, Andrea Gjestvang and Christian Belgaux will be in conversation about Gjestvang’s photographic practice and what happens when the gaze shifts from the front line to the private sphere—what becomes visible, and what remains unseen? The framework for the conversation is Gjestvang’s current exhibition “Mother, Daughter, Sister” at Fotografiens Hus.

Since spring 2024, documentary photographer Andrea Gjestvang has traveled to Ukraine to document the often-overlooked everyday struggles unfolding in wartime. While many men are sent to the front, Ukrainian women are fighting a different, less visible battle: holding their families together amid uncertainty and striving to create continuity in lives shaped by absence.
