Venue: Akademirommet, Kunstnernes Hus. In the Academy Room at Kunsternes hus, Catriona Beckett presents an exhibition of work, Planet Ecstasy. A series of paintings on paper are presented on a variety of wooden boards and frames, a digitally printed banner, excerpts of sound and a durational performance which centres around a sci-fi council in the fictional feminist epoch of the ‘Unknowing Period’.

A thread throughout this work is the notion of ‘not knowing’ and the feminist potentialities of resisting categorisation, its relation to painting in the way that abstract image making engages in a ‘not knowing’ state of mind. This body of work plays with the uncanny: political pamphlets exist in situ with abstract painting, glimmers of deconstructed club beats and a reading of a town planning paper.
