As part of a lecture series following R27: Party as Form, Felipe will present a performative reading of excerpts from the his latest book, the novella a sex shop of drugs & food.
In a dystopia where partying is as much a form of protest as it is of imprisonment, revolution is aspired to as a huge aesthetic achievement. A writer in search of fame befriends the drug dealer Tea, who introduces him to Rama, a DJ and leader of a guerrilla gang. a sex shop of drugs & food was written by appropriation and combination, often at random, of pre-existing English language texts.
Interspersed with the reading, a series of images appropriated from the internet and manipulated by the book's editor, artist Lucas-K, will be presented.
Leo Felipe is a Brazilian writer and curator living and working in São Paulo. Publishing since 2002, Leo explores subcultural themes through experimental writing.
