Siri Petterssons (f. 1990, Sverige) artistic practice takes its point of departure in the controlled format of hand weaving. By weaving together thousands of thin linen threads side by side, she mimics the freedom of painting to nuance and blend colors in order to create gradations and shifts. Layer by layer, she creates works that break with the grid structure of weaving and stand in contrast to the geometric principles of the craft.
Pettersson is currently pursuing a master’s degree at KHiO in Oslo. She previously studied at Handarbetets Vänner School in Stockholm and Kawashima Textile School in Kyoto, and she holds a journeyman’s certificate in hand weaving. She works both collaboratively and individually with exhibitions and public art commissions. Her works have been acquired by the Swedish Public Art Agency (Statens Konstråd) and several municipalities in Sweden.
